Abstract

Propolis is a resinous substance gathered by honeybees (Apis mellifera) which biochemical composi-tion depends on botanical sources. This review gives a no exhaustive list of different types of studied propolis around the world with its main constituents. Both several biological and/or therapeutic effects from propolis and/or its main constituents are reviewed. Finally, although the promising interest, a work is needed to establish the quality criteria of propolis. © Springer-Verlag France 2012.
