Abstract

The novel neolignan randainol was isolated from the roots of Sassafras randaiense. Its identity as 2,2′-dihydroxy-5-allylbiphenyl-5′-propenol was established on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence together with correlation with magnolol (2,2′-dihydroxy-5,5′-diallylbiphenyl). © 1984.
