Abstract

We present 5-GHz observations of 21 polars and intermediate polars carried out during 1990-91 using the Jodrell Bank broadband interferometer (BBI). Radio emission was detected from five polars, of which three are new detections. One of these may be confused. Highly variable emission was observed from the object AE Aqr. Values for the brightness temperature Tb and other parameters of the emission regions have been calculated for all detected objects. The quiescent flux density of AM Her has the same value found a decade ago. Upper limits are given for the flux densities of the remaining objects.
