Abstract

This study analyses the new European Directive 2024/825, of 28 February, as regards empowering consumers for the green transition through better protection against unfair practices and through better information. It analyses the Directive and the changes it introduces to the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, particularly about promoting the transition to a greener and more circular economic model by protecting consumers against the practices of planned obsolescence and "greenwashing" perpetrated by certain companies through misleading commercial communication of their products or services.
