Abstract

Incomplete diferentiation of CD8+ cytotoxic t-lymphocytes (CtLs) in the tumor microenvironment is associated with cancer progression. we describe a new type of tumor-infltrating CD8+CD57+ t cell in cancer with hybrid phenotypic and functional properties of both an early efector-memory cell and a terminally-diferentiated efector cell. these cells behave as incompletely-diferentiated CtLs. © 2012 Landes Bioscience.
