Palindromic rheumatism consists of recurrent self limiting attacks of monoarthritis or oligoarthritis, often precipitated by exercise, lasting from a few hours to a few days. There is complete remission between episodes, but the disease may be disabling and may progress to classical rheumatoid arthritis.
