Abstract

The article provides a summary of a doctoral research by Ben E. Lawson on the utility of site-based datasets and regional ecosystem mapping for biodiversity conservation in the Southeast Queensland bioregion. Ecosystem mapping and site-based datasets are important in conservation planning and management schemes. Issues and limitations in the two datasets used in the study were examined. The applications of regional ecosystem mapping in varied circumstances were explored using case studies. The regional ecosystem mapping program in Queensland shows continued improvement in the representation of biodiversity patterns.
