Abstract
The solvent-extractable lipids from the Valanginian turbidite sequence include n-alanes, n-alkanoic acids, acyclic isoprenoid alkanes, steranes, rearranged sterenes, 4-methyl-rearranged sterenes, triterpanes, triterpenes, aromatic hydrocarbons and porphyrins. The distributions of these compounds suggest fairly uniform contributions from terrigenous, algal and bacterial sources and also show that the sediments are at an immature stage of diagenesis.- from Authors
