Abstract

Dairy protein, in particular, whey protein, has been shown to delay gastric emptying, and thus lower the glycemic load in individuals with diet-controlled T2DM. Dairy protein has various components that may be beneficial to a person with T2DM, leading to better glucose control through time. More clinical trials on dairy protein are required to more definitively address the effects that dairy protein has on the management of T2DM.
