Abstract

Powder bed laser melting (PBLM) is increasingly applied for series production in automotive, medicine and aerospace. Main drivers are extended design capabilities and steadily decreasing production costs. Nevertheless, process stability remains one central challenge for general industrial implementation. This challenge may be tackled by extensive process control, based on coaxial thermal emissivity sensing or high‐speed imaging. Towards this, the present work provides a first insight into the correlation of sensor data, applied process parameters and part properties.
