Abstract

The variations of penetration and viscosity of binders with the addition of polymer were studied and following results were obtained: 1. The variations of penetration and viscosity of binders depend on the viscosity difference between the polymer and maltene. 2. Upon mixing polymer in 2∼6% with maltenes, the following equation was obtained; [formula omitted] where the term 29/(ΔS.P.×M[formula omitted]m)0.43 is the swelling volume of polymer in maltenes. © 1976, The Japan Petroleum Institute.
