Leiomyoma of the kidney: A case report

Abstract

We experienced a case of renal leiomyoma. A 71-year-old woman was referred with the complaint of right renal incidentaloma pointed out on abdominal Xray. Computed tomography and ultrasonography showed a round mass with calcification at the upper pole of the right kidney. Selective renal angiography showed an avascular mass. We performed right radical nephrectomy under the diagnosis of right renal tumor. The tumor was 7×7×6cm in size. It contained irregular calcification and was sharply demarcated from its surroundings. Histological examinations revealed it to be benign leiomyoma. We herein review 44 cases of renal leiomyoma reported in the Japanese literature.
