Abstract

The didactic the insecurity in the urban sector is a common theme, since the values of the criminal index are kept in a high position in different cities of Ecuador, based on this problem, the design of a community security device thought of in the Internet of things it occurs in the registry of evidences, which generates an alert for the opportune intervention of the Police. Internet of things is a concept that refers to the interconnectivity of technological devices, with the particularity that these devices perform one or several tasks according to the work environment. The mixed method (Qual - quan) allowed to determine the factors that contribute to insecurity in the canton Esmeraldas and to experimentally evaluate the operation of the technological tools for the design of the monitoring device. The Raspberry Pi technology was adjusted to the requirements presented by the community. WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging system; this allowed interacting with the security device, record evidences and alerting the nearby surveillance unit. The community was benefited by the technological application keeping low indices of insecurity. The Police motivated those who know these technologies to develop projects that minimize the crime rate in the country.
