Abstract

This chapter presents some features of the theory of chemical bonding that are particularly relevant to the molecular aspects of the electronic structure of low-dimensional solids. Topics include: linear polyenes; platinum chain compounds; two-dimensional layer compounds; molecular scattered wave calculations; and electron density description of the ground state of molecules.
