Abstract

David Engwicht, campaigner for saner transport, consultant in communication, author of ?Towards an Eco?City: Calming the Traffic? (Envirobook, Sydney, 1990) fits the description of social inventor more than most. Moving from local community action in Brisbane to international consultancy, his experience illustrates how radical social change can grow from the grassroots, and non?specialists. David Engwicht was interviewed for City on his way to a full day workshop in Edinburgh for planning professionals and concerned citizens involving the City Council, the University and others.
