Abstract

(Sulfodifluoromethyl)phosphonic acid, (HO)2 P(O)CF2SO3H, has been synthesized for the first time. This mixed phosphonic-sulfonic acid was prepared from (C2H5O)2P(O)CF2SO3Na, which had been synthesized via oxidation of the corresponding sulfinate salt, (C2H5O)2P(O)CF2SO2Na. The sulfinate salt was prepared from (C2H5O)2P(O)CF2X (X = Br, I) and [(C2H5O)2P(O)CF2SO2]2Cd precursors. © 1989, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
