Abstract
This article emphasizes, firstly, the importance of studying the practice of teaching in the classroom. After noting the methodological difficulties and the conceptual difficulties that raise the research in this field, stressing the need for an explanatory framework for the performance of teachers and students in the classroom, that is to say, a theory of action in the classroom. In this framework, it is tackled the problem of governing the conduct of students and the maintenance of order as a relevant factor in the determination and configuration of the teaching strategies used by teachers and, in short, in the activities that are developed in the classroom. Finally, it is posed that the use of metods of teaching more traditional or more innovative is related to the control of student behavior in the classroom.
