Studies on pavement freezing predictions

Abstract

This paper clarified ground thermal regime properties such as periodical fluctuations, pavement freezing/thawing phenomena, relationships between surface temperature and air temperature related to a pavement freezing, and proposed pavement freezing prediction methods based on Fourier analysis model and Energy balance analysis model. The precision and availability of two prediction methods are verified by prediction ratio calculated from in-situ observed data and predicted results.
