Abstract

Treatment of venous gas embolism focuses on the prevention of the further ingress of gas, fluid expansion, 100% oxygen and maintenance of blood flow to vital organs. The treatment of arterial gas embolism has as its immediate goals cardiovascular stability and prevention of further cerebral injury, followed by hyperbaric oxygen therapy, if available and practically tensible.
