Abstract
Functional cognitive disorders (FCD) have gained a higher profile in recent times, but in the absence of diagnostic criteria or tests the diagnosis is always provisional. An arbitrary one-year period of follow up has been suggested. Dr Hamid and Dr Larner present a case in which a diagnosis other than FCD emerged later than this duration of follow up.
