Abstract
The introduction of hybrid automated fleets offers great potential for improving the mobility and transport system. This article highlights the essential dimensions and challenges that must be considered when integrating these technologies. The multidimensionality of the use cases – application scenario, vehicle category, level of automation, and assistance systems – plays a crucial role in designing a heterogeneous fleet and significantly influences its efficiency and safety. The focus of the article is on the design aspects and requirements for coesntrol centers for hybrid fleets. It emphasizes that seamless integration of automated vehicles into existing fleet management systems is necessary. Particularly, small countries like Austria face the challenge of avoiding dependence on OEMs and tech giants. Strengthening local competencies and promoting cooperation among national stakeholders are crucial for promoting independent and innovative development.
