Abstract

In 2022, national courts in individual Euro-pean Union (EU) Member States and in Aus-tralia, China, Singapore, the United Arab Emi-rates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK) deliv-ered a series of important rulings in the copyright field. This contribution provides a round-up of the most significant judgments issued in the period of 1 January to 31 December 2022. As far as decisions in EU Member States are con-cerned, the selection gave precedence but was not limited to areas in which EU harmonization has occurred, so that guidance provided by national courts in a certain country might also be useful to practitioners and courts in other EU Member States. The analysis is divided by area (economic rights, exceptions and limitations, enforcement issues, other issues and referrals to the Court of Jus-tice of the European Union in 2022) and country (Australia, Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, UAE and the UK).
