Abstract

In the current era, cardiac rehabilitation after a myocardial event involves physical training in conjunction with optimizing the use of medications to control myocardial ischemia and prevent cardiac complications. It is also the time to identify and treat concomitant psychiatric problems and to develop an individualized program in secondary risk factor modification through counseling, behavior modification, nutritional counseling, and a properly selected drug program. This review attempts to deal with the above matters pragmatically. Copyright © 1995 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
