Congenital elevation of the scapula

Abstract

Six cases of congenital elevation of the scapula or Sprengel's deformity, in young army recruits are reported in this paper and a brief survey of the relevant literature is made. The authors insist on calling the deformity: 'congenital incomplete descent' and not 'elevation of the scapula' both for embryological reasons and because the former term best describes the etiology of the deformity.
