Abstract

We describe 2 patients with autoimmune thrombocytopenic disease who developed classic dengue fever associated with serious bleeding and extremely low platelet counts (1000 cells/mm3 and 3000 cells/mm3, respectively). Such patients should be properly advised as to the possibility that common dengue fever may substantially enhance their risk for hemorrhagic complications.
