Abstract

Nitrilase, which catalyses the hydrolysis of nitriles to the corresponding acids and ammonia, was originally discovered as a plant hormone indoleacetic acid-synthesising enzyme. It is expected to be useful as a catalyst in organic chemical processing, and to have versatile functions in academic and applied fields. © 1994.
