Abstract
After a short presentation (geography, history, climate, biology) of the Juan Fernández Archipelago (Chile) and its three islands (Robinson Crusoe, Santa Clara and Alexander Selkirk islands), the Fernandezian forest is described with proposal of a new word to name it: myrtisylva -ae (myrtisylva), through the two variants found in the archipelago (low altitud myrtisylva, high altitude myrtisylva), and for each one of the concerned islands. Trees and herbaceous plants checklists, forming the flora of these myrtisylvas, are given. At last, a short analysis of the great threats menacing the future of theese original forests is added. © 2006, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
