Reviews the book, Neurodegeneration: The molecular pathology of dementia and movement disorders by Dennis Dickson (Ed.) (2003). Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD) and Huntington' disease have become a major economical and social burden of Western society. Although there is yet no cure for these diseases, tremendous advancement has been made over the last decade in the areas of genetics, molecular pathology, and animal models in many of these diseases, which are beautifully summarized in this book. This book contains numerous high quality illustrations as well as frequent graphs and diagrams that make reading and understanding easier and enjoyable. We strongly recommend this book to all physicians and scientists who are interested in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
