Abstract
The article is about a specific old-age home that delivers certain community outreach services besides the services to the residents of the old-age home. Staff members and researchers realised that the elderly in their care had very little to spend on themselves despite receiving pensions and that a large percentage of participants could not account for their monthly expenditure. Financial problems were evident as there was no food in the home, the home smelled of urine and filth, dirty laundry and bed linen were evident, and windows were without curtains.
