Project appraisal and sustainability: Methodological challenges

Abstract

Including sustainability criteria in guidelines for project appraisal for developing countries involves several methodological problems. Two appraisal methods—cost-benefit analysis and multi-criteria analysis—are compared regarding how well they can deal with these problems. A key conclusion is that they often should be considered complementary approaches. © 1990 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
