Abstract

Borderline aromatics: The series of compounds of composition CB nHn+1- is now completed with the simplest three-dimensional aromatic 1. The precursor 2, a two-dimensional aromatic, and the product of protonation, 3, a homoaromatic, display partially nonclassical σ frameworks. R = SiMe3, Dur = 2,3,5,6-tetramethylphenyl.
