Abstract

Silica-functionalized sulfonic acid (SFSA) and sulfuric acid-modified polyethylene glycol-6000 (PEG-OSO3H) efficiently catalysed one-pot multi-component condensation of enolizable ketones or alkyl acetoacetates with arylaldehydes, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride to afford the corresponding β-acetamido ketone or ester derivatives in high to excellent yields and in relatively short reaction times. Moreover, in this work, some novel β-acetamido carbonyl compounds (i.e., one complex structure) are synthesized. [Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2012 Indian Academy of Sciences.
