Reactions of 2-Cyclohexen-l-ones and Cyclohexane- 1,3-diones with Chloro Methylene Iminium Salts

Abstract

Products are isolated and pathways established for the reactions of cyclohexane-1,3-diones with Vilsmeier reagents. Similarities between those reactions and the reactions of some 2-cyclohexen-l-ones with Vilsmeier reagents are demonstrated. The pathways proposed allow rationalization of products formed by the action of Vilsmeier reagents on a variety of cyclic and acyclic ketones. © 1987, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
