Abstract
This article presents studies on the physicochemical quality of straw mushrooms grown within a housing made of fiber-reinforced plastic and controlled by the Internet of Things (IoT). This study aimed to assess the quality and antioxidant content of straw mushrooms. In this study, the air temperature and humidity per unit mass of straw mushrooms per unit of time will be recorded and automatically controlled by an IoT system. The results showed that applying the IoT system to cultivate straw mushrooms is a promising farming method to produce high-quality mushrooms for medicinal raw materials. The IoT system helps maintain the temperature, humidity inside the growing house, and moisture content of the growing medium by managing the exhaust fan and mist sprayer as controlling tools. Inside temperature and humidity of growing mushrooms house ranged 29-35oC and 58-98%, respectively. Generally, the type of medium straw does not significantly affect the dimension and weight of the straw mushroom. Growing mushrooms on the medium organic straw produce mushroom with lower yeast-mold contamination than that of non-organic medium straw. The HPLC analysis result showed that straw mushroom containing EGT has antioxidant activity. However, further study is required to compare the application of IoT to a non-IoT system in mushroom farming to measure the feasibility in technical and economic aspects. In addition, an in-depth study of the extraction process to produce EGT should be done to obtain a high yield of EGT from the straw mushroom.
