Abstract

An article listing 14 "Grand challenges in global health" did not discuss mental health problems, particularly those arising from exposure to traumatic events such as war and disaster. Rates of psychiatric disorders, including major depression, substance abuse, and PTSD are markedly elevated among trauma-exposed individuals. There is a pressing need to treat the consequences of exposure to traumatic events in developing nations. [Adapted from Text]
