Abstract

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based smart task scheduling system for home automation is presented in this paper. This system is automatically controlled, energy-efficient, and scalable to smart homes with basic features that save energy and increase comfort for residents. The work demonstrates how PLCs can be used in the home to control and monitor lights, sensors, and other electronic equipment. As an added benefit, the proposed technology ensures home safety. The aim of this study is to develop an affordable system that can be installed in every household to improve security and energy efficiency by making home appliances more user-friendly and effectively performing every activity as per a schedule that is defined by user demands.
