Abstract

The chem. constituents of roots of Bupleurum chinense were studied. The roots of B. chinense were extd. with 95% ethanol and the EtOH ext. was partitioned between EtOAc and H2O. The org. layer was concd. and the residue was sepd. by silica gel. 6 Compds. were obtained from the EtOAc fraction and on the basis of their phys. and chem. properties, spectral anal. and comparison with the spectral data of authentic compds., they were identified as tetracosanoic acid, triacontyl alc., α-spinasterol, saikochromone A (2-hydroxy-methyl-5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-4H-benzopyran-4-one), fumaric acid and butanedioic acid (succinic acid). All these compds., except α-spinasterol, were isolated from this plant for the first time. [on SciFinder(R)]
