Al67Cu20Cr13 and Al75Cu 10Cr15 alloys were produced by mechanical alloying from elemental powders. As-milled samples consist of the initial elemental phases. Phase transformations at heating were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction analysis. Annealing of as-milled powders in the temperature range of 500 to 550°C results in the formation of binary and ternary compounds including the decagonal quasicrystalline phase that was found to be stable at least up to 800°C. © 2009 IOP Publishing Ltd.
