Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents are vulnerable to premarital sex, with 40.5% of adolescent girls and 38.7% of adolescent boys having engaged in this behavior. Health education, especially through video media, is important to reduce the risk of premarital sexual behavior and its negative impacts on teenagers. Objective: This literature review aims to determine the effect of health education using video media about premarital sex on the level of knowledge and attitudes in adolescents. Method: In this literature review, the PRISMA method was applied to search for and analyze the latest research articles (2019-2024) regarding the influence of health education using video media on the level of knowledge and attitudes of teenagers regarding premarital sex. Searches were carried out on the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and ProQuest search engines. Eligibility criteria and a review process were used to select 9 high-quality articles, with reference management carried out using Mendeley. Result: Health education through video media was proven to have a significant impact in increasing teenagers' knowledge about premari tal sex. The video method is more efficient in conveying information to teenagers. Apart from that, health education through video media also plays an important role in increasing teenagers' knowledge and attitudes. However, several studies state that educational videos tend to only influence teenagers' knowledge without having an impact on teenagers' attitudes. Conclusion: Health education via video significantly increases teenagers' knowledge and attitudes about premarital sex. Although the video method has proven effective in increasing knowledge, its effect on adolescent attitudes tends to vary.
