eBooks: Acquisition, the User, and the Future

Abstract

The article reports on the growth of electronic books (eBooks) and its significance to users in the U.S. It was shown that eBooks are facing increased demand from among publishers and libraries followed by the introduction of online libraries. The application offers various advantages to users including accessibility and the minimal cost of gathering information. It was inferred that libraries must consider the cost of acquiring eBooks as well as its impact to users. Libraries are engaging into partnership with online companies which provide support to address the financial constraints and expand the introduction of eBooks to a wider group of customers. It states that eBooks are widely utilized by academic and medical students.
