Abstract

Reviews the book, Recognition and prevention of major mental and substance use disorders edited by Ming T. Tsuang, William S. Stone and Michael J. Lyons (see record [rid]2007-05422-000[/rid]). This book presents papers from the 2005 meeting of the American Psychopathological Association. The meeting and this book have a focus on addressing how prevention efforts should be informed by the knowledge of indicators of vulnerability and an understanding of the etiology of major mental and substance use disorders. This book clearly meets its aim to be multidimensional and interdisciplinary. This book is recommended highly for students wanting an overview from the leading thinkers in the field, as well as practitioners wanting a synthesis of the clinical implications of the latest research on recognition and prevention of major mental disorders and substance use disorders.
