Abstract

A suction sampling machine is described for the collection of living Collembola and Acari from pastures and other soil surface habitats. The machine weighs only 11 kg and is easily carried by hand or mounted on wheels. The air flow is obtained from a centrifugal multivane fan, powered by a 1 H.P. two‐stroke petrol engine, giving about 100 c.m.m. at 1,500 r.p.m. Copyright © 1972, Wiley Blackwell.
