Abstract
As the Journal of Music Therapy (JMT) enters its 60th year publishing research in music therapy, the authors reflect on where the journal has been and where it is going in the future. A series of guest editorials with appear, beginning with a review of the history of the JMT. Additional editorials will focus more broadly on how research in music therapy has developed from the perspectives of both emerging and established music therapy scholars. The journal will also be focusing on ways to improve transparency with an initiative to include clear authorship contributions in each manuscript published. One aspect of authorship and transparency that is being considered is the impact and challenges of a quickly changing and technologically advanced world, particularly the role that artificial intelligence will play in research and publishing.
