Avoiding another Cold War

Abstract

This article briefly summarizes the major findings of my scholarship on the origins of the Cold War. It then suggests why Cold War analogies should not frame contemporary Chinese–American relations. It concludes by emphasizing that the key to successful competition in the international arena has more to do with successful domestic policies than with geopolitics and military competition.
