Abstract

Many animals show sexual dimorphism, one sex being consistently larger and heavier than the other. No doubt, examples of the same phenomenon also occur in the fossil record, but they may be difficult to spot and even more difficult to prove. The problems are greater still when considering trace fossils such as footprints. Even so, there seems reason to believe that some types of footprint do show sexual dimorphism. -Autohr
