Abstract

We present an unusual complication of a ureteral injury occurring during a bilateral laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy with the Harmonic scalpel (HS). The case illustrates in the same patient the versatility of the HS as a laparoscopic surgical instrument and energy source while at the same time demonstrating the potential for adverse, unexpected complications. © 2010 by JSLS, Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
