Abstract

bacterial diseases - 'Many bacteria are host specific and characterized by the types of symptoms they cause, allowing for tentative identification by gross morphological examination.' Impact of bacteria on tree health underestimated, too little studied. 'May be an attending microflora associated with trees, analogous to that in the digestive tract of human beings and other animals. Further research is required to demonstrate the significance of bacteria in relation to tree pathology.' (p. 182)
