Abstract

Power stability of multi-infeed HVDC (MIHVDC) system, especially maximum available power of MIHVDC in different control modes is analysed by the sensitivity method. The state equation of the load flow and its Jacobian matrix are solved by a few steps of iteration. The critical short-circuit ratio (SCR) of the MIHVDC is directly calculated by a formula presented in this study which possesses a similar form as a single-infeed HVDC system. The sensitivity method is further compared with the equivalence method based on multi-infeed SCR concept. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2014.
