Abstract
We present in this paper new Stark broadening parameters of analogous spectral lines (2s22p23p-2s22p23s) along the nitrogen iso-electronic sequence. The studied ions are Na V, Mg VI, Al VII, and Si VIII. We present also Stark widths for lines arising from the transition arrays 2s2p4-2s22p3 and 2s22p23s-2s22p3. Neither experimental nor theoretical results have been found for all the lines of these ions to perform comparisons. The results have been obtained using our quantum mechanical method. We use our calculated widths to establish a relationship between the Stark width and the effective charge Z for the studied lines. Using the established relation, we have predicted Stark widths of the same transitions for seven other ions belonging to the considered iso-electronic sequence (O II, F III, Ne IV, P IX, S X, Cl XI, and Ar XII). For the first three ions (O II, F III, and Ne IV), the comparisons of our predicted values show an excellent agreement with the available experimental and other theoretical results. For P IX, S X, Cl XI, and Ar XII, no other results to compare with. The established relation between widths and Z can be very useful for the determination of Stark widths of the considered lines without performing labour calculations. All the results for the ions Na V, Mg VI, Al VII, Si VIII, P IX, S X, Cl XI, and Ar XII have not been published previously and are presented here for the first time.
