Abstract

Objetivo: This article proposed to elucidate the nexus between records management and the development of the Cuban digital government, supported by the national regulatory framework. Methods: The research is a case study. The analytical-synthetic method and the documentary analysis technique were applied. The legal and technical normative base was examined based on questions and parameters. Results: The review of archival legal standards made it possible to identify weaknesses in records management. The solution was associated with the assumption of the ISO 15489–1 standard and the complementary ones on the management of digital records. Conclusions: The weaknesses of the archival legal framework and the absence of international technical standards in the national regulatory framework make it difficult to have an effective link between records management and digital government in Cuba.
